As a professor, he teaches courses in several universities and has given numerous lectures. He has participated in seminars and round tables, on both the national and international levels, on topics related to occupational training and qualifications, equality of opportunities, employment and the labour market, and local and social development policies.

He collaborates regularly with the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) and the European Training Foundation (ETF) and on various programmes of the European Commission. This makes him one of the most preeminent specialists in areas related to training and employment.

He has conducted considerable research in the area of employment, training and social policies and has published numerous articles and studies on these topics. He is the author of the study for the Fundació La Caixa Vocational Education and Training in Spain: Towards a Society of Knowledge (2009).

He was President of the Catalan Association of Sociology of the Institute of Catalan Studies (2004-2009),and member of the Centre for Opinion Surveys (Centre d’Estudis d’Opinió) and is the director of Herramientas, a journal on training and employment.
